They’ve also installed a swimming pool in the Italian property’s grounds to capitalise on panoramic views of the countryside.

Brooklyn Arts Hotel in Melbourne, Australia
14 rooms; $4.2m AUD via Nelson Alexander
Another boutique hotel is up for grabs – this time down under, in Melbourne’s Fitzroy neighbourhood. Dating back to 1865, the building honours American entrepreneur Josephy Levy who expanded its double-loggia facade and added a number of rooms when he bought the property in the late 19th century. It’s been turned into an arts hotel for the city’s creative community by its present owner and operator Maggie Fooke. She’s now put the historic property on the market. Find out more.
