Inside an art director’s Lisbon apartment

Portuguese architect Manuel Cachão Tojal renovated this sleek two-bedroom apartment in Lisbon’s trendy Bairro de Arroios for an art director and editor.

The Lisbon apartment occupies the top floor of a three-storey 1930s building across the road from the world-famous food market Mercado de Arroios. Tojal took inspiration from the period to create a material palette for his make-over, installing handmade tiles, Lioz stone, bespoke cabinetry, and wooden flooring.

Because it is a corner unit, the loft is bathed in natural light streaming through tall French doors, while solid wood windows help soundproof the space from the buzz outside. High ceilings and stucco details are also found throughout the 120 sq m space amplifying the volume across its interiors.

Fantastic Frank is exclusively marketing the Lisbon property with the price on application. It’s pitched at those who like being in the throng of city life.
