India Mahdavi and Crosby Studios team up for a game of ping-pong in Paris

Paddles at the ready: India Mahdavi and Crosby Studios have created a silver ping-pong room in Paris this summer at her Project Room Gallery.

The installation is titled Match Point and runs until 2 August at Madhavi’s gallery on the Left Bank. Mahdavi invited Harry Nuriev, artist and founder of cult design agency Crosby Studios, to collaborate on the project for her gallery’s 14th edition.

Match Point comes on the eve of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics and Nuriev has daubed the 28 sq m space in silver, including the table and its net. The walls, floor and curtain are all metallic in appearance too.

The designer has also crafted a pair of polished stainless-steel paddles, though they’re decorative objects rather than for practical use.

That’s not to say participants can’t try out the space: the public can play table tennis on a first-come, first-served basis for free. And a big window in the project room also lets passersby on the street watch all the action.
