Off-grid living is pushed to the max with this eco tiny home, which is ready for pre-order.

The €79,900 Ecocapsule is designed by Slovakian studio Nice&Wise and comes with a stash of green energy features. Each pod – measuring 68 sq ft – is powered by photovoltaic cells and a wind turbine, and can run for four days with little sun or wind thanks to a high-capacity battery that stores energy.

The tiny home’s fiberglass shell also helps collect rainwater and dew, processed by built-in filters and turned into drinking water.

Unlike other micro-homes on the market, the Ecocapsule comes with a built-in kitchenette and bathroom, folding bed and built in storage, which help maximise interior space. It also weighs just 2,645 lbs and fits snugly into a shipping container.

Initial designs for the Ecocapsule were unveiled back in 2015, and the studio has spent over a year drumming up financial support for the venture. Now the startup is set to become a fully fledged company and enter the final stage of prototyping, with production expected to commence before the end of 2017.

The first line of Ecocapsules – which can be pre-ordered now within the EU, US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand – will be limited to just 50 pieces. A second, mass-produced line will follow in 2018 at a lower price (yet to be announced) and will be available worldwide.
