Buy a piece of an 1898 Parisian masterpiece for €840,000

Designed by Art Nouveau giant Hector Guimard, the apartment retains most of its original features

An apartment on the fourth floor of Castel Béranger, an Art Nouveau building in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, has come onto the market for €840,000. The building was designed by Art Nouveau master Hector Guimard in the 1890s. The property is being sold by Architecture de Collection.

Many original details remain intact in the 58 square metre apartment, including elegant stained-glass panels in the windows and doors, and a decorative ceramic fireplace mantel.

Tall windows and French doors allow sunlight into the communal spaces, including a recently updated kitchen. The verdigris iron of the balustrades, wrapped around two sizeable balconies, is twisted and moulded into theatrical masks, giving the building its nickname Maison du Diable.

The building is located near the Boulevard Périphérique, between the River Seine and the Bois de Boulogne.
