DJ sets and live performances accompany a menu of cicchetti and Italian classics at Brixton’s Cattivo, which has interiors designed by Red Deer.

The London restaurant takes over part of the former Bon Marché building, which was home to Britain’s first department store. On the ground floor eatery, exposed beams and pipes add industrial flavour, complemented with touches of Art Nouveau. Guests sit at marble tables or on leather banquettes.

Downstairs, Red Deer has installed velvet curtains and seating to create private areas in the cocktail bar, which serves drinks made using Cattivo’s own small batch gin – distilled on-site. There’s also an extensive spritz and absinthe menu, and guests sitting in booths can have minibars stocked with their favourite drinks.

Cattivo hosts regular performances, including disco and cabaret on Saturdays for its showtime brunch, and soul on Sundays.
