Architecture and art collide in this new series of works by Canadian artist James Nizam.
Railings, awnings and door grilles found on typical Canadian suburban homes take on a ghostly glow. Wrapped in Scotchlite reflective tape and illuminated by flash, their fuzzy edges shine like neon strip lights.
The works are currently on view at the artist’s solo show at Gallery Jones in Vancouver, titled The Mnemonic Landscape. Throwing the buildings into relief, they play with notions of memory, reading like images burnt onto your retinas.
Mnemonic Landscape runs until 23rd April at Gallery Jones.
