Whether you’re visiting Berlin’s all-nighter clubs or exploring its art galleries in unusual spaces, you’ll need a place to rest your head between sampling the city’s distractions.
The accommodation available reflects the dichotomy of Berlin’s architecture. Some rentals date back to the pre-war period and carry the scars of history. Others point to the future, exploring new ways of living…
Here are six Berlin apartments you can rent.
The Modern Boat, Rummelsburg
This contemporary houseboat floats in a small bay in the River Spree. Its owner, Chris Laugsch, knows a thing or two about holiday homes. He’s one of the brothers behind Welcome Beyond, a rental website with a selection of handpicked vacation homes around the world.
Available via Welcome Beyond from €170 per night
The Remise, Prenzlauer Berg
Tucked away in a quiet corner of the Prenzlauer Berg district is this throwback to the Berlin architecture of yesteryear, comprising a 19th-century coach house, shed and timbered house. The listed buildings, renovated by Kniepkamp Architekten in 2007, are another example of the city’s daring approach to adaptive reuse projects.

Del Pozzo apartment, Arkona Platz
This 140 sq m apartment for rent in Berlin’s Arkona Platz is an urban oasis for art and music aficionados. The holiday home features a grand piano, a floor-to-ceiling library stocked with art books and reproductions of frescos by Renaissance artists Andrea Pozzo and Gianbattista Tiepolo on its ceilings.
Available via Airbnb from €160 per night
Renovated 1900s loft, Mitte
Another adaptive reuse project, this 1900 building was recently given a refresh as contemporary apartments. Traces of its past remain in its curling brick ceilings as well as its industrial-age windows. But with its contemporary Bulthaup kitchen and Duravit bath, this is a Berlin apartment to rent that’s definitely fit for modern purpose.
Available via Airbnb from €117 per night
The Urban Treehouse, Grunewald Forest
Architect Andreas Wenning is a veteran in the world of treehouse architecture, having designed them all across the globe. His Urban Treehouse – completed in 2014 – comprises a pair of four-metre-high cabins on the edge of Grunewald forest, just west of Berlin.
Available via Urlaubsarchitektur, POA
Soho House Berlin lofts, Mitte
Soho House opened its Berlin outpost in 2010, taking over a disused Bauhaus building in the city’s Mitte district. The Grade II-listed structure was originally a Jewish department store, later, an archive for the communist party following WWII. After decades of dereliction, it’s now been completely restored, crowned by loft apartments which look out over the city. Each loft comes with its own 100 record-strong vinyl library and vintage furniture.
Available via Soho House Berlin from €1,240 per night
