Located in South Downs National Park, near Winchester, The Glass House is available from £3,187 for a two-night weekend and sleeps up to 14 people in seven en-suite double bedrooms, each with views of the Hampshire countryside through full-height glass windows.

Open-plan common areas take up half the country holiday home, with cathedral ceilings, walls of glass and new appliances. Curvaceous sofas, deep chairs and an oversized dining table offer ample space for entertaining. Meanwhile, the private gym, filled with nautilus machines, yoga gear, and a Smart TV, is of professional calibre. Additional lounges and terraces around the property offer plenty of intimacy for quiet moments and for drinking in the astounding views.

But the wow factor, in this case, is the long outdoor pool and sun terrace, which offers the best vantage point. A natural pond surrounded by tall grasses is just beyond, leading into the River Itchen — paddle boards and kayaks come with the rental. A tennis court, spa and sauna are also available to guests through the estate.

Pets are welcome (up to two dogs if they’re well-behaved), as are children.
