The Italians might be known for their love of meat, but new vegan restaurant Soulgreen in Milan is putting plant-based dishes on the map – and hanging flora from its walls.

Soulgreen takes over a former bank on Piazza Principessa Clotilde in the city’s Porta Nuova district. Its interiors are a collaboration between the restaurant’s in-house team and design firm Creneau International.

The 1800s building’s original wood ceilings have been rediscovered and left exposed, along with overhead pipes – now hung with plants. Tables are made from recycled wood by Italian practice Laboratorio Controprogetto and industrial-style partitions divide the kitchen from the dining area.

Meanwhile colour pops come from planters across the vegan Milan restaurant’s interiors, which have been coupled with with green and grey accents on ‘délabré’ walls. Bar stools and dining chairs are also upholstered in deep shades of red and blue.
