Islands offer the ultimate privacy – and this one on Vancouver Island’s Cowichan Lake has come to market for $1.5m CAD with an expansive cabin home for entertaining.
‘Island 7’ is one of a handful of islands on the freshwater lake, popular with watersport enthusiasts, and spans 2.25 acres. The tree and bush-covered island has a modern cabin built at its centre, screened by foliage from the shoreline.
Alan L Johnson from Colliers International Unique Properties is marketing the Vancouver Island property, which is designed in a ‘West Coast’ style found across British Columbia. The typical hallmarks include soaring cathedral ceilings and huge windows in the great room, plus timber-lined interiors with exposed rafters and beams.
The island home is also equipped for off-grid living (though the listing makes a point it still has full cell service.)
The cabin can accommodate up to 10 guests, and there’s also a separate genny shed, a lower-level workshop and expansive decks. Add a wood-fired hot tub for nighttime star-gazing, and it has the complete set.
Cowichan Lake is on the southern side of Vancouver Island, around a 90-minute drive from Victoria. ‘Island 7’ is also notably on the ‘quiet end’ of the lake.
