Italian firm Studio Fuksas is on the cusp of completing a pair of slug-shaped cultural venues in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi.
The twin glass and steel structures are conjoined at the back on a stretch of land in Rike Park. One houses an exhibition hall while the other holds a 566-seater music theatre, along with a cafeteria and foyer with far-reaching views of the old town.
‘It is a periscope to the city and looks towards the river framing the historic core of the Old Tbilisi,’ said the studio.
The opening of the buildings, expected later this year, will be another step in the ongoing regeneration of Rike Park. It has become a popular destination over the past few years thanks to its outdoor recreational facilities.
