It doesn’t get more ‘Hollywood’ than Solange’s Los Angeles loft, located at the intersection of Hollywood and Vine on the fabled Walk of Fame.
The grammy-winner has owned the 1,360 sq ft pad most of her adult life, and its serene interiors contrast the hubbub of downtown LA. The bolthole is situated inside an art deco building from 1929 which was converted into live/work lofts in 2007, and it features polished concrete floors, high beamed ceilings and steel-case windows that flank the living room walls.
The bedroom is up on the second floor, with views of the Capitol Records building and a private bathroom complete with a Japanese soaking tub. Also on this level is a home office or guest room.
Solange recently spoke to Apartamento about her space for the magazine’s 30th issue saying: ‘I felt really connected to its ‘20s art deco architecture, its exterior, and all of its original mouldings and details. And the space inside got really good light.’
While Solange’s curation of furniture and art, celebrating Black story-tellers and subjects, is not included in the sale, it offers plenty of visual inspiration, including the curving sofa she designed, custom for the space. Circles and earthy shades also recur through the loft – ‘That colour brown has been a constant in my work, embodying the idea of living among the soil and the land.’
Daniel Banchik and Amy Dantzler of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California are listing the duplex for $799,000. You can also read more about Solange’s interior stylings and ‘world-building’ via Apartamento.
