Seoul is getting the world’s first museum dedicated to robots, and its opening ‘exhibition’ will be its own construction.
The Robot Science Museum will be built in the city’s Chang-dong neighbourhood by robots, who will assemble, weld and polish the metal plates of the new museum’s egg-like exterior. A second team will 3D print its concrete components.
Turkish practice Melike Altınışık Architects designed the futuristic museum for an international competition, and expect construction to start in 2020. Visitors should be able to wander through its spaceship-like interiors by 2022.
Exhibitions will be dedicated to the latest technology, including holograms and virtual reality, as well as showcasing the design and manufacturing of robots.
