Mossy tones imbue Sarah & Sebastian’s nature-inspired Melbourne boutique

Green glass and metallic reliefs shimmer and dazzle inside the Melbourne jewellery store Sarah & Sebastian, designed by Richards Stanisich.

The Sydney-based firm transformed a neoclassical Victorian heritage building in Armadale into an immersive space that feels like a collector’s home — embodying Sarah & Sebastian’s nature-driven aesthetic and facilitating the brand’s bespoke services, including Ear Alchemy piercings and bridal consultations.

Inspired by nature and the sea, a green, earthy colour palette imbues the flagship’s interior, giving it a fantasy-like atmosphere aligned with the brand’s artful, nature-driven aesthetic. Plush, mossy banquet seating contrasts with angular, mirrored glass display cabinets, reflecting the room and disrupting perspectives and straight lines. Overhead, the arched, vaulted ceiling is covered in hand-applied silver leaf, adding depth and patina, while seaweed-green flooring — mirrored gloss epoxy inspired by ocean kelp — runs underfoot, evoking an underwater feel.

Behind a second set of glass doors, a private room with a period fireplace and a 24-karat gold-leafed mirror offers an intimate setting for consultations and events.
