As cultural real estate goes, it doesn’t get much rarer than this: a Grand Tier box inside London landmark the Royal Albert Hall has gone on sale for £2.5m.
The unusual offering, which is being marketed via Harrods Estates, accommodates 12 people and is close to the Queen’s Box within the iconic Grade I-listed concert hall.
It’s the first time the Grand Tier box is being sold in 10 years – or viewed another way, in approximately 4,000 or so concerts…
The Royal Albert Hall is one of the UK’s busiest and most storied musical landmarks, hosting around 400 concerts, events and performances every year, ranging from live orchestras to the BAFTA ceremony.
According to the listing the Grand Tier Box has ‘exceptional views of the main stage and auditorium’ and is located on the western side of the concert hall, close to bars and restaurants. It has 849 years remaining on its lease, and also includes membership to the Corporation of the Halls of Arts and Science.
The Royal Albert Hall was built in 1871 by architects Henry Young Darracott Scott, Francis Fowke and the Italianate-style structure was named in honour of the Queen’s great-great-grandfather, Prince Albert.
