You can leave your worries at the door of Point House – a beachside retreat in the Turks and Caicos Islands that is embedded in the landscape.

Area Designs principal Cheong Yew Kuan designed the 7,000 sq ft timber-framed Caribbean property, which is for sale via Sotheby’s International for $15m. He has made the most of its oceanfront position: glass doors across the beach-level ground floor lend the house a transparent feel, opening onto a large deck and volcanic rock swimming pool with ocean views.

Inside, sand-coloured floor tiles evoke the landscape beyond the house’s double-height living space, which is outfitted with custom-designed teak furniture that continues the natural material palette.

Two master suites are set at beach level, while upstairs, a teak-panelled guest bedroom overlooks the island home’s living room via a shuttered glass balcony.

Extra accommodation can be found in the holiday home’s one-bedroom guest house.

Parrot Cay is the developer behind Point House, and the property has access to the private island resort’s amenities, including its restaurants and Shambhala Retreat. It recently ranked in Condé Nast Traveller’s Top 100 for Best Resort & Spa – and is just a three hour flight from New York.
