This historic Florentine townhouse in the city’s Oltrarno district has been transformed into a minimalist retreat by its interior stylist owner, Erin Quinlan Quiros.

Quinlan Quiros enlisted the talents of practice Luigi Fragola Architects to renovate the structure – dubbed Casa Q – back in 2012, though its interiors have continued to evolve since then, doubling as a test bed for her design ideas.

The Florence property, which is on the market via Italy Sotheby’s International Realty for €3.8m, unfurls around a central courtyard designed to function as an outdoor living room. It comes complete with a large fireplace, wingback chairs and a dining table for entertaining.

Huge black-framed doors lead from the courtyard into the four-bedroom home’s double-height living room, decked out with rustic timber-trussed ceiling and skylight windows that flood the interior space with light.

Here Quinlan Quiros has paired white walls with velvet sofas, brightly coloured artworks, and rustic wooden furniture. The kitchen and a library study branch off the living room and three bedrooms can be found across the 450 sqm property’s courtyard.

Other perks include an indoor swimming pool and spa, and the Italian property is a stone’s throw from both Palazzo Pitti and La Specola.
