Named for the fashion designer’s longtime partner, Jacques de Bascher, who died in 1989, Villa Jacko was Karl Lagerfeld’s home until 1998 and has featured in adverting campaigns his book Ein Deutsches Haus (A German House). The Neo-classical manse was originally designed by Walther Baedeker in the 1920s and later restored by art conservator Renate Kant under Lagerfeld’s watchful eye. French designer Andrée Putman was enlisted to craft the Hamburg property’s opulent interiors. Find out more.
Restored Sicilian Masseria, Italy
11 bedrooms; from €545 per night
Dimora delle Balze was in a crumbling state before its current owner rescued it from ruin. Dating back to the 17th century, the fortified farmhouse had been uninhabited for half a century until designers Draga Obradovic and Stefano Guidotti were enlisted to give it a much-needed overhaul. Decorated in soft Mediterranean shades, rooms are set around a central cobbled courtyard and named after famous Sicilian artists and productions. Explore its revived spaces.
