Designer Andrew Trotter has riffed on Puglia’s traditional farmhouses – or masseria – for this new bed and breakfast, close to the town of Ostuni.

Clean lines and crisp geometry give the white stone Masseria Moreseta a distinctly contemporary feel, while its thick walls keep the interiors cool. The building sits within a five-hectare, centuries-old olive grove overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, and houses six rooms, each with its own private garden or terrace.

Speaking to Welcome Beyond, where the B&B is available to book, owner Carlo Lanzini said: ‘The architecture works well with the sun when it hits at different times during the day. It reflects off the walls, creating Pantone-like colour patterns.’

Inside, Lanzini furnished the space with vintage furniture sourced from local markets and antique fairs, with each of the pieces available to buy.

As well as views of the sea in the distance, Masseria Moroseta offers an outdoor swimming pool and a games area. There are also gym and spa facilities inside the building.

Rooms start from €90 a night. Groups can rent the entire property.
