Woodstock is among the Catskills’ most popular towns thanks to its arty, bohemian vibe and associations with a certain famous rock concert (though it actually took place an hour down the road in Bethel). The enclave is a two-hour drive from NYC and is a prime spot for weekending New Yorkers drawn by its mix of mom-and-pop stores, art galleries, scenery and rustic foodie scene.

For those seeking a more permanent change of pace, Purdy Hollow Farm – for sale for $2.85m – might pique some interest.
