Love it or loathe it, this Postmodern house by architect Michael Graves cuts a sharp figure on the New England coast.

Complete with all the pop colours and shapes that the Postmodern architectural style is known for, the Manchester-by-the-Sea property – on the market for $9.2m with J Barrett & Company – sits 60 ft from the ocean.

Graves, who completed hundreds of buildings before passing away in 2015, divided the five-bedroom PoMo property into distinct ‘pavilions’, each featuring different facades.

The 3,500 sq ft home – which has had a significant price cut since initially listing for $14.5m – was built in 1996 and includes a pool house, circular library, office, guest quarters, and a trio of porthole-style windows that offer views over the seafront.

A pathway leads down to a private section of beach, and nine acres of land. There’s also a three-bedroom guest house, added in 2011.
