The spirit of Virgil Abloh imbued the set for Louis Vuitton’s menswear SS23 show in Paris, which featured a supersized toy car racetrack and primary colours.

The presentation was the first full conceived in its entirety by the Louis Vuitton menswear studio since Abloh’s passing, though there are plenty of nods to his work through the design studio’s stagings.

A bright yellow racetrack zipped its way around the Carre du Louvre – a homage to Virgil’s Wizard of Oz-inspired 2018 inaugural collection for the fashion house. A gravity-defying loop-de-loop and oversized bright red ball added to the distorted sense of scale.

Garments in the collection picked up the childhood theme through primary colours and toy references, from building blocks to playdough and paper planes, and more specific nods to the 1990s skating subculture.
