The ‘restaurant with rooms’ that is Michelin-starred Moor Hall has momentarily flipped the emphasis with the launch of seven new garden retreats on its woodland estate. Designed by West Country studio Koto, the standalone suites are sided in black-stained oak and decorated in subdued palettes inspired by local botanicals – like anise hyssop, oxalis and sea buckthorn. They each have a private terrace and hot tub and come with reservations to Mark Birchall’s two-star dining room in the main house.
Five of the prefab cabins are already open for guests, with two more following in August.
The asymmetric structures are concealed within the wild Lancashire property, with the opportunity to explore five acres of gardens, a pond and a zinc bar in the 13th-century house. Birchall also runs a more casual restaurant out of a red-brick barn on the site, and there’s a full golf course nearby.
