Prefab pioneers Koto has unveiled a collection of cabins in north Cornwall designed for slow living.
The Point development tucks into a pocket of the Polzeath hills, close to Polzeath beach on the north Cornwall coast. Chelsea gold-medal winner Darren Hawkes has been enlisted to landscape the four-acre plot, with the cabins designed to engage with their bucolic setting. They even take inspiration from the natural landscape for their pitched rooflines and silhouettes, clad in blackened larch, while their picture windows are orientated to drink in the views.
Koto specialises in pioneering slow living—a meaningful and conscious lifestyle that encourages connection to nature. The modular cabin company is the brainchild of Theo Dales, Jonathon, and Zoe Little, who’ve developed an avid following for their simple but striking sustainable designs, which range from garden rooms to three-bedroom cabins and saunas, heavily influenced by Nordic design.
The Modern House selling cabins 5, 6 and 16. They’re available in two Koto layouts – ‘rumps’ or ‘rock’ – with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, spanning 1,100 sq ft and starting from £595,000.
Each cabin is sold fully furnished with a curation of Scandinavian lighting and pieces by Bolia and stripped-back, serene Scandi interiors (think lots of blonde woods, natural finishes and open-plan living). And while each idyll has its own decked terrace and private courtyard to provide outdoor space (plus two parking spots), residents also get access to leisure facilities at The Point – a golf course, swimming pool, spa, tennis courts, bar and restaurant.
The Camel Estuary is a mile away, while the cabins themselves are surrounded by open fields with far-reaching views of the sea (Polzeath beach is a 15 minute walk away and is renowned for its surfing). And when the Cornish properties are not in use by their future owners, they could yield rental income as short term lets. See The Modern House for more information.
