Singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson is parting ways with her Los Angeles home—a 1920s Spanish Revival recently decorated by celebrity interior designer Francesca Grace—in one of Hollywood’s most storied neighbourhoods.
The Hollywood Hills home was built in 1928 by real estate developer Charles Toberman, known as the ‘father of Hollywood,’ in the exclusive Outpost Estates. During the Golden Age of Hollywood, the enclave was home to some of cinema’s biggest names, including actors like Dolores del Río, Errol Flynn, Ava Gardner—and, more recently, Charlize Theron—as well as directors and producers. The Spanish Revival homes are still especially sought after for their blend of privacy and panoramic views over Los Angeles, including landmarks like the Griffith Observatory, the Capitol Records building, and downtown.
Michaelson bought the three-bedroom period property from actor Ashley Tisdale in 2019, and it’s a prime example of the style, with red tile roofs, a white stucco exterior featuring ornate ironwork, and a lush 0.23-acre landscaped garden. The Notebook musical songwriter gut-renovated the kitchen, which features beamed, vaulted ceilings, a wooden island, dark blue cabinets with gold accents and a built-in breakfast nook.
Grace has staged the 3,520 sq ft interiors before the sale, bringing in her own bespoke designs, such as oversized circular armchairs wrapped in chintz, custom-designed specifically for the space. The aesthetic mixes minimalism, vintage and a lick of cottagecore.
