It seems Millennial pink isn’t everyone’s cup of tea after all, as The Most Famous Artist has found out…

Architecture practice M-RAD commissioned the artist and his company, The Mural Agency, to paint a trio of houses in LA’s Faircrest Heights for temporary installation, Pink is a nice colour – much to the chagrin of local residents.

It’s the vibrant hue of the houses – set to be demolished to make way for a 45-unit apartment block designed by M-RAD – that has irked local neighbourhood groups. They have already asked for the buildings to be repainted after less than a week, reveals Curbed LA.

M-Rad’s marketing director Eric Stauble told the magazine that mixed reactions to the artwork has its plus points. ‘What’s great is that most of the negative reaction is starting a dialogue about urbanisation and the projects that are being approved through the city both from a design standpoint and also a size stand point.’

Added The Most Famous Artist: ‘Although the work we did today is ephemeral in nature, the lessons we learned about community and collaboration, and arts ability to stimulate conversation will stay with us forever.’

More than 7,500 photos have been already been tagged #pinkhouse.

It’s not the first time a paint job’s caused upset… Over in London, a woman who decked her multi-million pound Kensington property in candy-stripes ended up in court earlier this year over her garish colour scheme.

If you want to see the pink houses for yourself, you better act quick – they’re expected to be repainted in a more subdued tone later this week.
