Holiday home of the week: a contemporary Ibizan villa

Scandi and Spanish influences blur inside this modern finca

This contemporary Ibizan finca blurs Spanish design with Scandinavian influences.

Can Caterina is the handiwork of British interior architect Cate Watts, founder of Urban Village Design. Comprising a cluster of crisp white cubes, the 70,000 sq m complex is set on the top of a hill outside Santa Gertrudis with views over the surrounding forest and sea.

‘For me, the space, light and textures from inside the house are just as important as how the house looks from the outside,’ says Watts of the Ibiza holiday home – for rent direct or via Airbnb starting from £667 per night.

‘I tried to give a nod to the Ibicencan finca with thick walls, cosy nooks, chimney snugs, skylights, hand finished edges and angled lines,’ she adds.

Stone, wood and lime plaster feature heavily inside the Can Caterina’s interiors, while a Scandinavian influence slips through thanks to soft white walls, timber ceilings and furnishings.

The Ibiza holiday home has five double bedrooms and the master suite has its own private garden with an outdoor bath.

Can Caterina comes with its fair share of shaded terraces for keeping cool, and there’s a 17m swimming pool that looks out over the island and leads down to a private mountain walk, planted with wildflowers. For children, there’s a small beach and paddling pool, as well as a play area with zip-wire and trampoline.

The villa is close to Santa Gertrudis and Ibiza town is just a few minutes drive away.
