Puglia is peppered with conical stone homes – or trulli – that date from the 16th century. This little classic close to the town of Fasano has been given a contemporary update.
Trullo M is a freshly restored minimalist retreat that sits on a hillside, looking out to sea. The property’s owners, Mathias and Marijke Meert, have repaired its traditional roof and given its dry stone masonry a new lease of life.
Available to rent direct (starting from €229 per night), Trullo M has three bedrooms in the main house as well as white-walled living spaces with original stone floors. The couple have furnished the Puglian holiday home with a mix of tactile wooden furniture and vintage pieces, and have installed an all-white kitchen that blends with the painted stone walls of the building.
The house has 300 sq m of terraces, including a shaded pergola beside the infinity pool which has 180-degree views out to sea. (If you prefer to hit the beach, the villa is just 15 minutes drive from San Domenico Golf and Savelletri Harbor.) An additional bedroom can also be found in the adjacent pool house.
