Guests at the Gansevoort can sample its new members’ club

The club, Seven24, is sharing access for its kickoff year

In hospitality circles, this decade belongs to the private members’ club, a rarefied experience made ever more accessible by the remote work revolution. The latest lifestyle group to share the ‘space’ is Seven24 Collective, run by hotelier Sean Largotta and Michael Achenbaum, founder of the Gansevoort Hotel Group. Unsurprisingly, their first location has popped up at the Gansevoort Hotel in New York’s Meatpacking District, though the company has eyes on ventures in the Hudson Valley and beyond.

Accordingly, it is a place to see—and, if the dim lighting will allow, be seen. The focal point of the club is its study, with library lighting and dramatic floral wallpaper. The fashion-led designer Victor Alfaro oversaw the design of the space, bringing in centrepieces like a modernist Murano-glass chandelier and red-lacquered bar, both of which drop in from the double-height ceiling.

Members come and go through spotlit ipe-wood doors, though it is expected many will loiter into the evening. To that end, Alfaro designed a 1970s-style nightclub called Dimes, a wood-panelled basement-style lounge with a black-lit aquarium, karaoke room and two bowling lanes with neon art and disco balls. The cocktail bar shimmers with reflective gold tilework and an underlit amber onyx surface.

A café for daytime meetings is a brighter, colourful affair that evokes the vibe of the NYC hotel’s rooftop pool. The latter is used by the hotel proper, yet to promote the club and cross-pollinate the two sets, the Gansevoort is offering a taster of sorts over the next several months. They’ve extended the use of all Seven24 facilities to hotel guests for the length of their stay. Likewise, club members can drift into the hotel pool, plus its brasserie, cafe, bar, and fitness centre.
