Pioneering digital artists transform the concrete spaces of London’s 180 The Strand into immersive environments from this week, with the opening of much anticipated audio vidual show, Future Shock.

The bumper-sized show by Fact and 180 Studios brings together 14 international artists and collectives working at the apex of audio-visual technology. From generative and interactive algorithms, AI and 3-D digital mapping to spellbinding laser work, holographic projections and ground-breaking electronic music.

Among works by Ryoichi Kurokawa, Caterina Barbieri, Actual Objects, United Visual Artists, GENER8ION (aka Romain Gavras and Surkin), Gaika, Tundra, Ben Kelly & Scanner (aka Robin Rimbaud), NONOTAK and object blue & Natalia Podgórska are new commissions and UK premiers of AV artworks that riff on the architecture of the brutalist building.

Music plays a crucial role across the exhibition too. Weirdcore presents a brand new commission, ambiently soundtracked by Aphex Twin, while Floating Points scores an installation by Hamill Industries. Hyperdub founder Kode9 scores Lawrence Lek’s immersive installation – a new commission by 180 Studios.

Future Shock will thrill AV fans throughout the summer, running until 28 August 2022. Tickets are available online.
