A five-storey home designed by architect Claudio Silvestrin has hit the market in London’s Hampstead for a cool £22.5m.
The Italian – who’s previously collaborated with Kanye West, Calvin Klein and Anish Kapoor, among others – created the sprawling 8,000 sq ft property for developer Astwood. It took nine-years to get the project from drawing board to market.
Five Cannon Lane features a sweeping gallery-like reception room that’s over 50 ft wide and forms the heart of the house. Elsewhere, a circular staircase ascends the full height of the building, while the basement has a swimming pool, spa and gym.
‘The feeling of 5 Cannon Lane is one of calm and serenity; it’s almost a meditative space,’ says Silvestrin. ‘To achieve this simplicity, technology is mostly hidden and there is no ornamentation of any kind. However there is drama – the 42 step stone staircase that leads down to the pool and spa which recalls an ancient site, for example.’
Savills is marketing the property, located a stone’s throw from Hampstead Heath. It comes with a garden designed by Chelsea Flower Show gold medallist Chris Beardshaw.
