Céline’s new Paris boutique channels the city’s historic perfumeries

its atmosphere draws on the extravagance of the art deco movement

Marble and polished metal lend this Céline perfume store an elevated atmosphere that draws on the extravagance of the art deco movement.

The retail space is the fashion house’s first haute parfumerie, located on Rue Saint-Honoré and designed by artistic director Hedi Slimane. According to Céline, it ‘reconnects with the inherently French heritage’ of the label.

The boutique offers a kaleidoscopic experience for browsers, with perfume bottles lined up on a series of stepped and mirrored shelves. Polished metal runs throughout the store, from the golden staircase leading to the upper level to the zig-zag partition walls that divide the store.

Antique white-veined marble is another focal point used for both flooring and walls. Slimane has softened the experience somewhat, adding wooden furniture and a pair of fur-draped recliners positioned opposite the store’s marble fireplace.

Shoppers can also admire the parfumerie’s collection of artwork which includes a brass mobile created by Virginia Overton and entirely in keeping with the art deco influence.
