Byron Bay retreat Soma peeks onto the hinterland

The wellness retreat has a yoga dome and spa facilities

Soma is a recently completed hideaway that nestles into 22 acres of rainforest within the Byron Bay Hinterland in New South Wales.

Designed for yoga enthusiasts, Soma is an immersive two-storey home crafted with wellness in mind, with floor-to-ceiling windows drenching its industrial-style interior spaces with light. Concrete floors are offset by timber and glass finishes, blending natural and man-made textures.

The wellness retreat sleeps up to 20, across 10 bedrooms, and rooms are furnished with specially crafted furniture and Australian art.

Outside, a quick walk through the bamboo forest leads to a 100 sqm yoga dome, complete with underfloor heating and glass ceilings for stargazing. The complex also has a freshwater swimming pool and fire pit where you can cosy up with a good book, or toast marshmallows over the open fire.
