A cluster of restaurants opened today in Broadgate Circle, the City of London’s latest culinary destination.
Aubaine, The Botanist and a host of other familiar London names have taken up residence in the 1980s building, which has been freshly revamped by its original architects, Arup Associates. They will soon be joined by Michelin-starred Yauatcha’s second London outpost and Spanish chef José Pizarro’s third restaurant in the capital.
City workers can also grab a bite from street food trucks and sit in the centre of the amphitheatre-like space, known for its winter ice rink.
Broadgate Circle is the centrepiece of postmodern development of office buildings designed by Arup Associates. The practice won planning permission to upgrade the space in 2012, which involved lowering the central circle.
The complex of buildings are jointly owned by British Land and GIC. For summer, their plans for the space include theatre productions and live sports screenings before the ice rink returns in the colder months.
