Architect Gordon Ryder designed this Grade II-listed modernist home for his family in 1968 and the time capsule home is now for sale near Newcastle.

Trees, as the five-bedroom dwelling is known, is based on a rectilinear plan, and frames views over the surrounding fields of Woolsington through a glazed end. It’s on the market with Sanderson Young for £850,000 and has been carefully preserved, having featured in numerous publications in the last 50 years for its unorthodox design.

A brick-lined hallway leads into white-washed living spaces. The living room has a double-height ceiling, creating space for a mezzanine level, while bedrooms have ribbon windows. Whoever is lucky enough to get the master bedroom will also have direct access to the home’s high walled roof terrace.

Not all is entirely original, however: the kitchen and bathrooms have been updated, as well as a new garden studio covered in a sedum roof.
