Picture yourself in this bohemian U-shaped house designed by Abraham & Rol

The modernist throwback occupies a leafy plot in the Paris suburbs

Conceived in the 1970s by Janine Abraham and Dirk Jan Rol, this U-shaped house occupies a 1,900sqm plot on the heights of Argenteuil, outside Paris. Its 231sqm of living space is arranged around a patio and landscaped garden, with the plan turning inward before opening broadly to the surrounding slope. Almost concealed from the street, the house uses the terrain to secure privacy while maintaining open views.

The ground floor centres on a sunken living room with fireplace, oriented toward the landscape and extended by a library and dining room. The dining space connects to a fully equipped kitchen, structured around a sandstone wall that screens the pantry. Five bedrooms include a principal suite with private terrace, dressing room and en-suite bathroom, alongside additional shower rooms and separate toilets. A lower level with high windows offers adaptable space, complemented by a garage, semi-basement room and two cellars.

Original elements — lacquered benches beneath the bay windows, built-in cabinets and coloured doors — remain intact. The RER J reaches Gare Saint-Lazare in around 15 minutes. It is listed for €1,350,000 with Architecture de Collection.
