What do Jean Cocteau and Soho House have in common? They’ve both called Paris’ Pigalle home. The private members club has finally opened its long-awaited Paris clubhouse in Cocteau’s former home, and as anticipated, its interiors pay homage to its storied past.

Members of Soho House Paris can enjoy access to a winter garden, bar and tantalisingly named cabaret room with red velvet walls and touches of French art deco.

The interiors are every inch tradition, nodding to the building’s past as a private mansion with canopied beds, velvet sofas and parquet flooring. Restored wooden doors and plaster mouldings help remind guests of the property’s glory days.

Soho House has filled the building with a painting-only art collection, including original pieces by Natsuko Uchino, Emmanuel Van der Meule and Mel O’Callaghan. Members can wake up in one of 36 bedrooms, draw the floral curtains back to reveal Pigalle outside and have a morning soak in the freestanding tub or a dip in the marble roof pool.

As you’d expect, the restaurant menu is quintessentially French, including escargot, croques monsieur, and tarte tatin.
