A $50 million penthouse at Zaha Hadid’s only residential building in New York has gone on sale.
Most of the apartments at 520 West 28th Street – a curvilinear steel and glass structure by the High Line – hit the market last year but this is the first time the headline PH-37 penthouse has been available.
The mammoth 6,853 sq ft property has five bedrooms, its own private elevator as well as a custom-designed staircase by the late Hadid connecting all three levels of the triplex space. It also comes with a 2,552 sq ft terrace that wraps around the building, providing views of the adjacent High Line.
‘I’ve always been fascinated by the High Line and its possibilities for the city,’ Hadid said last year. ‘Decades ago, I used to visit the galleries in the area and consider how to build along the route.’
The 11-storey 520 West 28th Street development has now topped out, and is expected to be completed early next year.
