Chef Daniel Boulud’s flagship cafe has reopened in an airy new space, with a distinctly Art Deco feel courtesy of NYC design studio Jeffrey Beers International.
Café Boulud is a much-loved Manhattan haunt and has been a staple of the city since 1998 when it first opened – although Covid forced its closure in 2021. It’s now relocated to East 63rd Street and has brought its sense of classic dining ambience along with it.
Jeffrey Beers has installed plush banquettes, mirrored panelling and brass light fittings to compliment the building’s original black and white tiles and parquet flooring – all of which give the restaurant’s interiors a traditional feel. In an interview with Resy, Daniel Boulud described it as ‘inviting, warm, and casual at the same time’.
The Manhattan restaurant is also home to quite a collection of European artworks, which dot the restaurant’s walls. Café Boulud’s menu remains true to its French roots, serving classic dishes including foie gras terrine, boeuf périgourdine and a curried rainbow carrot tarte.
