Los Angeles-based interior and furniture designer Mandy Graham updated this 1987 home in Manhattan Beach, giving its interiors a minimalist makeover inspired by the house’s geometric facade.
The four-bedroom house at 3412 Walnut Avenue belongs to Graham’s business partner and had undergone a gut renovation in the mid-90s that muddled its interiors. Taking the arched entrance of the California property as her starting point, Graham introduced wide arches across its interiors.

This curving motif harks back to art deco and neoclassical architecture – which in turn, inspired 1980s postmodernism – while creating an organic flow between light-drenched spaces, illuminated by black, steel windows and sliding pocket doors.
Among the stand-out spaces is the sky-lit kitchen and dining room, outfitted with pitted travertine work surfaces and open aluminium shelving that reflects the light.

The minimalist Manhattan Beach home is currently for sale for $3.99m by Dave and Jennifer Caskey of eXp Realty of California.
