Google delves into the sensorial qualities of colour at Milan Design Week

Tech behemoth Google explores how colour makes us feel in its immersive Salone del Mobile exhibition, Making Sense of Colour, which conjures the sounds and sensations of the spectrum.

Hosted at Garage 21, the multi-space installation explores the role of colour in Google’s latest hardware design collection and is curated by V P of Hardware Design Ivy Ross in collaboration with art research lab Chromasonic.

Chromasonic Refrequencing technology translates light shades into sound frequencies and vice versa, inviting visitors to move through a series of interconnected rooms drenched in 21 distinct nodes. The installation attempts to make the intangible nature of colour tangible, with each node activated by a single light and spatialised sound, ranging from bold hues to subtle tones.
