Brick and concrete form the backdrop for choreographer Lee Serle’s site-specific performance Time Portrait, which probes the passage of time within the empty confines of The Clothing Store Artist Studios.

The 20-minute film re-examines Serle’s archive of solo choreography, taking extracts from the last 10 years and re-contextualising them against the architecture of the site.

The Clothing Store Artist Studios houses an annual residency programme for Carriageworks gallery, providing space for visual artists across a range of disciplines.

Serle was an artist in residence at the Studios in 2019 and was meant to be in-residence at Carriageworks for the second development of Time Portrait – now postponed due to COVID-19.

In the meantime, you can watch the mesmerising first iteration of the piece online.
