Hal Levitt designed homes for Hollywood’s biggest names including Dean Martin, Burt Lancaster and Steven Spielberg earning him the nickname, ‘Architect to the Stars’. Now his only La Canada Flintwood building is for sale – and its 1960 aesthetic is intact.

The Roscoe Moss estate was built for the family behind the Roscoe Moss water company on a 1-acre woodland plot in La Canada. Its split level design expands over 5,000 sq ft with each living space packing its own sense of ‘drama’ via soaring ceilings, floor-to-ceiling glass and skylight windows.

The living room and family room open onto patios and the landscaped garden, which includes an architect-designed swimming pool. Interiors have original terrazzo flooring, painted brighter and a light, breezy midcentury-inspired colour palette throughout the LA County home.

There are four bedrooms in total, with the master suite boasting an indoor/outdoor shower. Coldwell Banker has the listing for $6.5m.
