The space age home built for comedian Bob Hope and his wife, entertainer Dolores, will provide the backdrop for Louis Vuitton’s upcoming Cruise fashion show. Some 400 guests are expected to flock to the building in Palm Springs and should the 23,000 sq ft home – designed by architect John Lautner – take their fancy, it can be theirs to own for $25 million (£16 million).

Lautner’s design, constructed in 1980, was the largest residential project he would undertake. The house was built to echo the form of a volcano, with a hole in its concrete roof letting light into the internal courtyard, but it’s also been likened to a spaceship and a giant mushroom.
