Hundreds of chairs tumble out of a window and down through the courtyard of Dover Street Market Paris as part of an evocative installation by Japanese artist Tadashi Kawamata.
The monumental installation is called ‘Avalanche’ and features a deluge of wooden chairs surging through the architectural space in a giant wave.
Wooden structures are a recurrent motif and material used by Kawamata, and in this temporary display, on show until 5 October, they take on the mass form of the ‘avalanche’ surging into and around giant grey cylinders.
‘Avalanche’ is presented by Phileo Paris and Adidas, with whom Kawamata collaborated on a pair of sneakers, with support from Mennour.
