Stretching along the shoreline of Ontario’s Contau Lake, this private woodland getaway is designed to make the most of its spectacular natural setting.
The Bear Stand was built by practice Bohlin Cywinski Jackson in 2016, some three hours north of Toronto, and it combines Modernist principals with rustic woodland living. A glass entrance leads into a sunken, two-storey Great room where an enormous granite fireplace takes centre stage and vast glass planes look out onto the surrounding trees and property’s 100-acre plot.
Wooden finishes have been used throughout the four-bedroom Canadian holiday home – available to rent from $900 per night – from cabinetry and floors to wall slats and furniture.
Guests can make the most of over 1,300 ft of uninterrupted shoreline and 5km of boardwalk trails through the Ontario wilderness.
