Concrete reigns supreme at this jungle hideaway in the Balinese village of Banjar Tunon, near Ubud.

Haigha House is named after the March Hare in Lewis Carroll’s book, Through the Looking Glass, and its playful character puts a twist on the traditional Joglo bungalows found across Indonesia.

The three-bedroom Bali holiday home is available to rent via Airbnb from £305 per night and is staggered across several levels. It’s been built with steel, timber, and glass and its concrete walls and floors are exposed throughout. Rooms have towering 6-metre-high ceilings, lending it a loft-like feel.

Floor-to-ceiling windows frame views towards the Batukaru volcanoes and surrounding rice fields on every level. The minimally furnished living room opens onto a swimming pool and deck, while the top floor master bedroom has a large private deck set at tree canopy level.
