Short film Museum captures the Louvre art gallery from an unusual perspective – a skateboarder and ballet dancer explore its empty, tourist-free halls through movement.
Tristan Helias and Marin Troud directed the three-minute film, which is accompanied by music by Max Richter. It’s intended as a love story, showing the pair as they dance and skate their way through the Louvre’s empty rooms, on their way to meet one another.
The directors told High Snobiety that the film is an attempt ‘to sublimate the works of art, open the museums’ doors to street art and make French culture more accessible to all’ – which all feels particularly pertinent in the current times. It’s also perhaps the first time a skateboard has been allowed inside the Louvre’s hallowed galleries.
The Louvre closed to the public in March this year, following a government order banning gatherings of more than 100 people. It reopened in July, although now requires visitors to book a time slot and adhere to strict social distancing rules.
