A Berkeley Arts & Crafts home overlooking the San Francisco Bay has hit the market combining idyllic views and rustic interiors.

Wooden shingles clad the exterior of the 1922 California property, which centres around a barn-like living room with redwood panelling and a pitched 20-ft-high roof with arched beams. A stone fireplace heats the space, which has built-in library shelving and is overlooked by a second-floor balcony, while dozens of windows peek onto the garden.

Many original details have been preserved across the four-bedroom Berkeley home – listed for the first time in 60 years via Susie Schevill and Faye Keogh of The Grubb Company for $1.75m – though the bathroom and kitchen have been updated in a sympathetic style.

Three bedrooms fill the second level, while the master bedroom takes over the entirety of the top floor, sitting beneath a wood-panelled pitched roof.
